About Us

Ted Messner opened Hollywood Hardware in Sacramento's Hollywood Park in 1948. His son Denny has been a permanent fixture in the store since the age of 7, where he started out with a broom, dusting cloth and the constant teachings of customer service from his father. Denny has a 6 year KCRA Alist Winning Housewares and Gift department founded by Denny's oldest daughter, Teri.

The pride of the Messner family - and more importantly the Hollywood Hardware Employee Family - combined with the loyalty of customers over the years is the reason Hollywood Hardware is historical community fixture in Sacramento. In 2015, Denny sold Hollywood Hardware to Tom Tognetti.

Tom is not new to the hardware business; he has three other successful hardware stores in the bay area. Tom loves buying and rebuilding stores, and he expanded on the vision the Messner family gave Hollywood Hardware. He redesigned the housewares department and expanded the nuts and bolts section, all while keeping the same customer-first, friendly atmosphere.
